Two artists may be said to have dominated the “30 / 30” contest, as they each managed to submit four successful entries. One of them is Mateusz Holak whose design created for the band Happysad surprised, in the positive sense of the word, with its clarity and visual simplicity.
The exhibition of vinyl album covers designed by Rosław Szaybo and Stanisław Zagórski in ’60s, ’70s and ’80s is on display for only 6 more days. Fifty outstanding designs showcasing the immense contribution of Polish designers into this type of art are exhibited in the ground floor exhibition room of the Municipal Gallery “Arsenał” until 24th May.
We hope that similar success stories await the designers of the younger generation who participated in the “30 / 30” contest. One of them is Wiktor Jackowski whose cover created for the album “Najas Flexilis Exequiae” by ForrestDrones was appreciated by the jury.

The sixth cover which gained recognition of the contest jury is the design by Ioana Vreme Moser created for the jazz band from Timisoara called Exit Oz. We hope that the success of the cover will contribute to the success of the band, as their music is quite interesting. We also wish the author many successful designs in the future.
Fanom dark jazzu powinien spodobać się m.in. utwór “Marele Magician”: http://exitoz.bandcamp.com/track/marele-magician
One of the gloomiest album covers in the contest. Some may find it similar to the Punisher’s symbol, others to the murderous look of Robocop. Strong message, intriguing idea… – these words describe in brief the cover of the album entitled “Dance in Haze” by Ebola Ape. You may check whether the design by Bartosz Polak renders the atmosphere of the album by listening to a song like “Lord Boolz” by Ebola Ape and Boolz.
Utworu posłuchać można m.in. za pomocą serwisu Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/ebola-ape/b-l-p-boolz-lord-boolz
Another design which can be found among the best album covers in the “30 / 30” contest is the cover of an album by Donguralesko – an interesting idea realized by Łukasz Koniecko in an equally interesting way. The double album is a kind of summary of Donguralesko’s career since its beginning fifteen years ago. It also shows some new directions in the artist’s music. The same is true for the album cover which refers to names of housing estates found on rooftops in Poznań.
Tym, którzy jeszcze nie mieli możliwości przesłuchać płyty, szczególnie polecamy utwór “Wokół mnie” Palucha, powstały z udziałem Gurala: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0v1PJLLCOU
